    The order that usually works

    1. Redfin first. Redfin says the MLS photos usually stay on a home's page after it sells, and its Sale and Tax History tells you which years it was listed.
    2. Then Zillow. For a past sale Zillow usually shows the main photo; off-market homes only come up by their full address.
    3. Google Images and Realtor.com. Removed photos can stay in image search for a while.
    4. The Wayback Machine. It finds pages by web address, so it works best with the old listing URL.
    5. An agent. Many MLSs keep closed listings with all their photos; only members can open them.

    Questions

Can I see old listing photos of any house?

Often, not always. Redfin says MLS photos usually stay on the page after a sale; Zillow usually shows only the main photo of a past sale. If the owner hid the photos or the listing was withdrawn, the full set is usually still in the MLS, which a local agent can open. Details in how to find old listing photos.

Does the Wayback Machine have old Zillow listings?

Sometimes. It searches by web address, so the finder builds the Zillow address for you and asks the archive for everything under it. The listing text and the first photo are the parts most often saved; the full slideshow often is not.

Is my address sent to October?

No. The links are built in your browser. The address is not sent to October or saved anywhere; it only goes to the site you choose to open.

Can I reuse the photos I find?

Not freely. Listing photos usually belong to the photographer or the listing agent. See who owns listing photos.

Why is the house not on Zillow or Redfin?

Off-market homes only show up when you search the full street address, unit number included. If the home was never listed on the MLS, there are no listing photos; county assessor and recorder records still show past sales, see how to look up a house's history.
