AI HomeDesign alternatives in 2026: 9 options compared by what you need

AI HomeDesign is a photo-allowance subscription ($35 a month, or $19 billed yearly, for 30 photos) that covers virtual staging, item removal, day to dusk, enhancement and renovation edits in one plan, so the alternative you want depends on which of those you need: for staging alone at a similar price, Virtual Staging AI, Collov AI or StageHQ; for a person on each image, Styldod or BoxBrownie for staging and Autoenhance.ai or PhotoUp for the editing; for staging plus a short narrated video, Shhots; and if the photos have not been taken yet, October guides an iPhone capture, draws AI-generated photos from it that keep the room's layout and view, and usually returns them with a walkthrough and staged rooms within a few hours. This page compares nine options from their public pages as of October 2026; it is written by October's founder and ranks October where it fits.

How we compared them

We read AI HomeDesign's pricing page and homepage and, for each alternative, its own pricing page or homepage, on October 21, 2026. We did not run the same room through every service, so this is a comparison of what each one offers and charges, not of image quality. AI HomeDesign's homepage says 'From $0.24 per photo' and 'Results in ~30 seconds'; its pricing page shows that $0.24 is the Enterprise rate on yearly billing, and the entry plan works out at $0.63 a photo billed yearly or $1.17 month to month. We quote both and say which is which.

A note on prices: AI HomeDesign, Collov AI, Virtual Staging AI, StageHQ, Shhots, PhotoUp and Styldod show dollars with no currency named. Collov's and Virtual Staging AI's headline monthly prices are yearly-billing prices. BoxBrownie's pricing page shows prices by region; we quote its US prices, read on October 27, 2026 with the region set to United States (enhancement $1.60, day to dusk $4, virtual staging $24), which are 20% below the $2, $5 and $30 list prices captured in August 2026 by Shhots. Autoenhance.ai sells in USD, EUR and GBP.

Who should not switch away from AI HomeDesign

AI HomeDesign does several things well, and a page of alternatives should say so. Its pricing page lists Pro at $35 a month, or $19 a month billed yearly ($228), for 30 photos; Pro Plus at $59 or $29 ($348) for 80; and Enterprise from $99 or $49 ($588) for 200, scaling to 10,000, with a REST API, webhooks and MCP on Enterprise only. Every paid plan includes 'All +10 AI tools': virtual staging, item removal, day to dusk, image enhancement, and seven renovation tools (wall, floor, backsplash, ceiling and cabinet changes, an interior designer, furniture restyle and construction completion among them). New accounts generate a few photos free with no card (the FAQ says about three, varying by country), results appear 'in the same session', and first-time subscribers who have used three or fewer generations can get a full refund within 7 days.

  • You want staging and the listing edits on one allowance. A photo is a photo: stage one, remove a bin from another, dusk a third, all from the same 30. Virtual Staging AI and StageHQ stage only; Collov's editing starts on its $49 plan; the human services charge a different price for each job.
  • You want the lowest yearly per-photo rate. $0.24 on Enterprise billed yearly ties with Collov's add-on rate and is below Virtual Staging AI's $0.53 and Shhots' roughly $0.45.
  • You want a refund window. The 7-day full refund for first-time subscribers who have made three or fewer generations is the clearest one on this page; StageHQ's purchases are final, and Collov and Virtual Staging AI point to refund policies we could not read.
  • You want to automate it. Enterprise's REST API, webhooks and MCP server are more integration than any rival here except Autoenhance.ai, Virtual Staging AI's Enterprise API and Shhots' MCP server.

If one of those is you, the rest of this page is for the day you need something AI HomeDesign does not do: staging without a subscription, a designer or editor who looks at the image, HDR brackets merged, a video, or photos when they have not been taken yet.

Styldod and BoxBrownie are the two services here that will do every job on AI HomeDesign's menu with a person on the image, and the price is the difference: a staging, a day to dusk and an item removal that cost three photos of a $19 allowance at AI HomeDesign cost $16–$24, $4 and $4–$8 or more as three line items there, in 24–48 hours instead of 30 seconds.

I only stage, and want it cheap and simpleVirtual Staging AI, StageHQ, Collov AIVirtual Staging AI's $19 plan stages 20 photos a month with unlimited renders; StageHQ's $19 pack stages 20 whenever you like; Collov's $19 plan gives 60 credits. AI HomeDesign's $19 yearly-billed plan covers 30 photos, but you pay $35 month to month.
I stage a few images a year and don't want a subscriptionStageHQIts credits never expire and the packs start at $19. AI HomeDesign, Collov, Virtual Staging AI and Shhots all reset unused photos or credits every month.
I want a person to look at every imageStyldod, BoxBrownie, PhotoUpStyldod and BoxBrownie stage and edit by hand at $1.50–$24 an image depending on the job; PhotoUp's human editors edit from $1.50 a credit, with AI staging at 3 or more credits. No AI tool here promises a person will look at the result.
I shoot brackets with a real camera and want them mergedAutoenhance.ai, PhotoUpAutoenhance.ai merges brackets, pulls windows and corrects perspective automatically in 5–10 minutes a shoot; PhotoUp merges HDR by hand at 1.25 credits. AI HomeDesign enhances a single photo; it does not take brackets.
I want a video as wellOctober, Shhots, Collov AI, StyldodOctober's walkthrough is AI-generated motion (Kling) between each room's finished photos. Shhots makes a 15-second narrated clip from 3–4 photos. Collov's Premium plan makes an AI virtual tour from up to 20 images. Styldod edits video you shoot. AI HomeDesign makes none.
The photos haven't been taken yetOctoberEvery other option starts from a photo you upload. October guides the capture on an iPhone 12 or newer, draws the finished photos from it with an AI image model, usually delivers them and the walkthrough within a few hours, and stages or empties any captured room at $29 or $19, every photo of that room. See virtual staging vs empty room.

What a 6-room listing costs: per photo allowance vs per room

Take a six-room home and 18 photos, three per room, which is what October captures, and suppose two of the rooms are empty and should be staged: six images. Here is that job priced along AI HomeDesign's allowance and October's per-room path, using the list prices above. On AI HomeDesign the 18 enhancements and 6 stagings are 24 photos, inside the 30-photo Pro plan, which is $35 for a month or $19 a month on a $228 yearly commitment; we show both. For the photographer we use PhotoUp's 2026 national average of $230 for a standard shoot of 10–25 MLS-ready photos.

Read it both ways. If you already have good photos, AI HomeDesign's $35 month beats October's $107 and covers the edits and the staging together. If the photos still have to be taken by someone who is not a photographer, October's $49 covers the capture and the finished photos, and its staging is priced per room, so three images of one room cost the same $29. Your first place with October is free, including the walkthrough (pricing). More in our virtual staging cost guide and real estate photography cost guide.

Three things to check before you switch

  • Whether the room stays the room. Staging adds furniture; renovation tools (walls, floors, ceilings, backsplashes, construction completion) change the property, and a listing photo that shows a floor or a finish the home does not have misrepresents it, whatever the tool made it. Keep renovation previews off the listing. October's photos are all drawn by an AI image model from your capture, which is told to keep walls, floors, windows, fittings and the view; each photo is checked against the capture and redrawn if the room changed, and staged or emptied images carry a label on the image. AI can still get a detail wrong, so check every photo before you publish.
  • What the price is really per. Per photo on a monthly allowance with a yearly discount (AI HomeDesign, Virtual Staging AI), per credit on a yearly-billed pool (Collov), per credit that never expires (StageHQ), per credit on a monthly pool (Shhots), per download, pay as you go or on a monthly allowance (Autoenhance.ai), per credit with a scale by photo type (PhotoUp), per image and per job (Styldod, BoxBrownie) or per room (October). Count images per listing and listings per month before comparing.
  • Disclosure. Staging, item removal and day-to-dusk edits are alterations under California's AB 723 and most MLS rules, whoever makes them; light and colour corrections generally are not. That exemption does not cover October: every October photo is a new AI-generated image, so label it as AI-altered or digitally altered where your MLS, portal or state requires. AB 723 also asks for a link or QR code to the original; October's download includes the unaltered original of every photo, so you can link or provide it where your MLS or state requires. See AI photo editing and MLS rules and the best virtual staging apps.

Questions

What is the best alternative to AI HomeDesign?

It depends on which of its tools you use. For staging alone, Virtual Staging AI ($16–$79 a month billed yearly), Collov AI (from $19 billed yearly, 60 credits) or StageHQ ($19 for 20 photos, no subscription). For a person on every image, Styldod or BoxBrownie for staging and edits, or PhotoUp for editing. For brackets from a real camera, Autoenhance.ai. For a short narrated video, Shhots. If the photos have not been taken yet, October guides one iPhone walk and returns AI-generated photos drawn from it, a walkthrough and staged rooms, usually within a few hours.

How much does AI HomeDesign cost?

As of October 2026 its pricing page lists Pro at $35 a month, or $19 a month billed yearly ($228), for 30 photos; Pro Plus at $59 or $29 ($348) for 80; and Enterprise from $99 or $49 ($588) for 200 photos, scaling to 10,000, with API access. That is $0.63–$0.24 a photo on yearly billing. All paid plans include every tool. A few photos are free to start, and first-time subscribers who have used three or fewer generations can get a full refund within 7 days.

Is AI HomeDesign really $0.24 per photo?

Only on its Enterprise plan billed yearly ($49 a month for 200 photos). The entry plan is $0.63 a photo billed yearly or $1.17 month to month ($35 for 30). Collov AI's Enterprise add-on rate is also $0.24, StageHQ's largest pack is about $0.28, Shhots is about $0.45 and Virtual Staging AI's cheapest is $0.53.

Does AI HomeDesign use human editors?

Its pages do not mention one; the homepage describes the service as 'Fully automated' with results in about 30 seconds. Among the alternatives, Styldod, BoxBrownie and PhotoUp put a person on each image, and Collov AI offers a human-assisted multi-angle staging on its higher plans. Virtual Staging AI, StageHQ, Shhots, Autoenhance.ai and October do not promise a human review.

Which AI HomeDesign alternatives make a video?

October makes an AI-generated walkthrough (Kling) that moves between the room's finished photos, in HD or 4K. Shhots makes a 15-second narrated clip with an on-camera presenter from 3–4 photos. Collov AI makes an AI virtual tour from up to 20 images on its Premium plan. Styldod edits video you shoot from $60 or makes a single property video from $30. AI HomeDesign, Virtual Staging AI, StageHQ, Autoenhance.ai, PhotoUp and BoxBrownie list none.

Can October edit or stage photos I already have?

No. October works from captures made in its own app on an iPhone 12 or newer; the app walks you to each spot and takes the photos itself, and an AI image model draws the finished photos from them. It stages or empties captured rooms at $29 or $19 per room, every photo of that room, with a visible label on each image. For photos you already have, use one of the other eight options on this page.

Did you test all nine?

No. This page compares what each service publishes on its own pricing page or homepage, checked on October 21, 2026. We only describe October from first-hand knowledge, because we make it.
