Imagen AI alternatives in 2026: 8 options compared by what you need

Imagen AI is an AI editor that learns your look from your own catalog and applies it in Lightroom, and it also sells Imagen for Real Estate, a separate browser app at $0.32 a photo with 5 human revisions per listing, so the right alternative depends on what you are missing: if you want property-specific edits (window pulls, sky, perspective) from someone other than Imagen, Autoenhance.ai is the closest automated option ($0.75 an image, or $29 a month for 100 on its current offer); if you want a person on every image, PhotoUp, BoxBrownie and Styldod edit per image in 24–48 hours; if you need staging or a short video, Shhots, Virtual Staging AI and Styldod cover those; and if nobody on the job is a photographer, October guides an iPhone capture, an AI image model draws the finished photos from it, and photos and a walkthrough video are usually back within a few hours, for $49 a place. This page compares eight options from their public pages as of October 2026, with a worked cost for a six-room listing; it is written by October's founder and ranks October where it fits.

How we compared them

Imagen's pages refuse plain downloads, so on October 22, 2026 we read its pricing page and its Imagen for Real Estate page in a browser; Imagen's row below comes from those two pages. For every alternative we read its own pricing page, homepage or App Store listing on October 21 or 22, 2026. We did not run the same photos through every service, so this is a comparison of what each one offers and charges, not of image quality.

A note on currency: Imagen's prices as captured are in US dollars. PhotoUp, Styldod, Virtual Staging AI and Shhots show dollars with no currency named. BoxBrownie's pricing page shows prices by region; we quote its US prices, read on October 27, 2026 with the region set to United States (enhancement $1.60, day to dusk $4, virtual staging $24), which are 20% below the $2, $5 and $30 list prices captured in August 2026 by Shhots. Autoenhance.ai sells in USD, EUR and GBP.

Who should not switch away from Imagen AI

Imagen does several things no one else on this page does, and a page of alternatives should say so. Its pricing page charges from $0.05 a photo with a $7 a month minimum that rolls over as editing credit, gives 1,000 free edits with no card, and sells an unlimited 'Limitless' plan at $129 a month billed annually (it says that saves $432 a year, so about $165 a month if paid month to month). Extra tools (crop, straighten, subject mask, smooth skin) are $0.01 a photo each, and culling is an add-on from $12 a month.

Imagen also sells a second, separate product: Imagen for Real Estate, a browser app with no Lightroom and nothing to install. It merges HDR, pulls windows, replaces skies and corrects perspective, and its AI assistant does virtual staging, object removal and digital twilight. It costs $0.32 a photo pay as you go ($0.22 in the first month on its current offer), billed at the end of the month for what you edit, with a 250-photo free trial, 'Your first batch is processed in under 10 minutes', and 5 human revisions per listing when you flag a photo. It is priced separately and is not included in Limitless.

  • You edit in Lightroom and want your own look applied. Imagen's whole idea is a personal profile learned from your past edits, applied inside your catalog, with the processing done in the cloud. None of the property-editing services below learn your style; they apply theirs.
  • You shoot more than listings. Imagen is a general photographer's tool (weddings, portraits, events) with real estate tools on top. If your week mixes a wedding and three listings, one editor for all of it is worth more than a property-only service.
  • You want the cheapest automated per-photo rate. At $0.05 a photo in the desktop app, Imagen is the lowest per-image price on this page by a wide margin; its own real estate web app is $0.32, the next automated rates are Autoenhance.ai at $0.29–$0.75 an image and Shhots at roughly $0.45 a generation, and the human services start at $1.50.
  • You cull. Imagen's culling add-on sorts a shoot before you edit it. No alternative here culls.

If one of those is you, the rest of this page is for the day you need something Imagen does not do: a person editing every image from the start, a video, floor plans, or photos when nobody on the job is a photographer. If you only need an edit without Lightroom, or staging, check Imagen for Real Estate first.

Two notes on Imagen's row. First, Limitless covers the desktop app only: Imagen's pricing FAQ says it includes all AI editing tools and all real estate AI tools in the desktop app, with unlimited culling, but that Imagen for Real Estate is a standalone web product with separate pricing and is not included. Second, the two products bill differently: the desktop app per photo against a $7 monthly minimum (or the flat Limitless fee), the real estate app per edited photo billed at the end of each month, with custom volume pricing for teams editing 25,000+ photos a year.

Which alternative, by what you need

Your situationLook atWhy
I shoot property brackets and want them edited automatically, without LightroomImagen for Real Estate, Autoenhance.aiImagen's own browser app does this at $0.32 a photo with 5 human revisions per listing, so check it before leaving Imagen. Autoenhance.ai is the other automated editor here built around property work: HDR merge, window pulls, sky replacement and perspective correction in the browser or by API, with previews free, $0.75 an image or $29 a month for 100 on its current offer, and a 5–10 minute shoot turnaround. Our Autoenhance.ai alternatives page compares it in depth.
I want a person to look at every imagePhotoUp, BoxBrownie, StyldodAll three are per-image human editing in 24–48 hours, from $1.50 (PhotoUp credit, Styldod enhancement) or $1.60 (BoxBrownie). PhotoUp's dedicated editor is the nearest human equivalent to Imagen's learned profile: one person who learns your style, from $7.94 an hour.
I need virtual stagingImagen for Real Estate, Virtual Staging AI, Shhots (AI); Styldod, BoxBrownie (human); PhotoUp (AI, 3+ credits); October (per room)Imagen's desktop app does not list staging, but Imagen for Real Estate's AI assistant stages within its $0.32 a photo price. AI staging is $0.32–$2.67 a photo; human staging is $16–$24 an image in 24–48 hours. October stages at $29 per room for every photo of that room. See our virtual staging cost guide.
I need videoOctober, Shhots, StyldodOctober's walkthrough is AI-generated motion (Kling) between each room's finished photos, in HD or 4K. Shhots makes a 15-second narrated clip from 3–4 photos. Styldod edits video you shoot, from $60, or makes a single property video from $30. Imagen, Autoenhance.ai, PhotoUp, BoxBrownie and Virtual Staging AI list no video service.
I don't have a photographerOctoberImagen and every other option here starts from photos you or a photographer took. October guides the capture on an iPhone 12 or newer, has an AI image model draw the finished photos from it, and usually returns them and a walkthrough within a few hours. For phone apps that send to human editors, see the best real estate photography apps.
I want the cheapest automated edit per photoImagen AI (stay)At $0.05 a photo in the desktop app nothing here comes close; Autoenhance.ai is $0.29–$0.75 an image and Shhots about $0.45. If Lightroom is the problem, Imagen for Real Estate at $0.32 is still cheaper than both; if it is not, the price is not a reason to leave.

What a 6-room listing costs: per photo vs per place

Take a six-room home and 18 photos, three per room, which is what October captures. Here is that job priced along Imagen's per-photo path and October's per-place path, using the list prices above. We price Imagen at $0.05 a photo plus the $7 monthly base (the base rolls over as credit, so a photographer running several listings a month would spread it; we charge it all to this one job to be conservative), with crop and straighten at $0.01 each. For the photographer we use PhotoUp's 2026 national average of $230 for a standard shoot of 10–25 MLS-ready photos.

Stage 2 rooms, 3 photos eachNot in the desktop app; Imagen for Real Estate's AI staging at 6 × $0.32 = $1.92, Virtual Staging AI's $19 Standard month (20 photos) or BoxBrownie at 6 × $24 = $1442 × $29 = $58

Turnaround after the shootNot stated for Imagen's desktop app (Imagen for Real Estate: first batch under 10 minutes); Virtual Staging AI about 10 seconds an imageUsually within a few hours, photos room by room

Read it both ways. If you already pay a photographer, or are one, and only need the editing, Imagen's $7 month is a fraction of October's $49, and you keep the camera, the RAW files and your own look. If the photos still have to be taken by someone who is not a photographer, October's $49 covers the capture, and the gap closes once a shoot is paid for. Your first place with October is free, including the walkthrough (pricing). More on photographer rates in our real estate photography cost guide, and on setting your own in what to charge as a real estate photographer.

Three things to check before you switch

  • Whether anyone looks at the result. PhotoUp, BoxBrownie and Styldod say a person does the editing. Imagen for Real Estate has a person fix photos you flag (5 revisions per listing), after the AI edit. Imagen's desktop app, Autoenhance.ai, Shhots, Virtual Staging AI and October do not promise one; Shhots says outright that nobody reviews it. If a wrong edit on a listing costs you more than $2, that matters.
  • What the price is really per. Per photo with a monthly minimum (Imagen's desktop app) or per edited photo billed monthly (Imagen for Real Estate), per download or on a monthly allowance (Autoenhance.ai), per credit with a scale by photo type (PhotoUp), per image (BoxBrownie, Styldod), per credit on a monthly pool (Shhots), per photo on a monthly allowance (Virtual Staging AI) or per place of up to six rooms (October). Count your photos per listing and listings per month before comparing.
  • Disclosure. Staging, item removal, sky and twilight edits are alterations under California's AB 723 and most MLS rules, whoever makes them; light and colour corrections generally are not. October's photos are not light and colour corrections: each is a new AI-generated image, so label it as AI-altered or digitally altered where your MLS, portal or state requires. AB 723 also asks for a link or QR code to the original; October's download includes the unaltered original of every photo, so you can link or provide it where your MLS or state requires. See AI photo editing and MLS rules.

Questions

What is the best alternative to Imagen AI for real estate photos?

For automated editing of property brackets without Lightroom, first check Imagen's own browser app, Imagen for Real Estate ($0.32 a photo, 5 human revisions per listing). Outside Imagen, Autoenhance.ai is the closest: HDR merge, window pulls, sky replacement and perspective correction, $0.75 an image or $29 a month for 100 on its current offer, with a shoot back in 5–10 minutes. For a person on every image, PhotoUp, BoxBrownie and Styldod edit per image in 24–48 hours from $1.50–$1.60. For staging or video, Shhots, Virtual Staging AI and Styldod. If nobody on the job is a photographer, October guides an iPhone capture and returns AI-generated photos drawn from it, keeping the room's layout and view, plus a walkthrough video, usually within a few hours.

How much does Imagen AI cost?

Imagen's pricing page (read October 22, 2026) lists two plans for its desktop app: pay as you go from $0.05 a photo with a $7 a month minimum that rolls over as credit, extra tools such as crop and straighten at $0.01 a photo each and 1,000 free edits with no card; or Limitless at $129 a month billed annually (about $165 month to month), with culling included. Imagen for Real Estate, its browser app, is priced separately at $0.32 a photo ($0.22 in the first month on its current offer) with a 250-photo free trial.

Does Imagen AI work without Lightroom?

Its real estate product does: Imagen for Real Estate runs entirely in the browser, with 'no desktop app, no plugins', and can use a personal profile made in the desktop app. Imagen's main desktop application works with Adobe Lightroom Classic, Lightroom, Photoshop and Bridge, with the processing done in the cloud. Autoenhance.ai, PhotoUp, BoxBrownie, Styldod and Shhots also take uploaded files in a browser with no Lightroom; October takes no files at all.

Does Imagen AI do virtual staging?

Imagen for Real Estate does: its AI assistant stages a room, removes objects and turns a day exterior into twilight, all included in the $0.32 a photo price. The desktop app's pricing page lists no staging. Elsewhere, Virtual Staging AI ($16–$79 a month) and Shhots (about $0.45 a photo) are automated; BoxBrownie ($24) and Styldod ($16–$23) use designers; October stages captured rooms at $29 per room.

Can October replace Imagen AI for my photos?

No. October works from captures made in its own app on an iPhone 12 or newer; the app walks you to each spot and takes the photos itself, and an AI image model draws the finished photos from them. It cannot edit RAW files or a Lightroom catalog. If you are a photographer who edits your own work, Autoenhance.ai is the automated alternative and PhotoUp the human one; October is for listings where nobody is a photographer.

Did you test all eight?

No. This page compares what each service publishes on its own pricing page, App Store listing or help pages, checked on October 21 and 22, 2026; Imagen's pages, which refuse plain downloads, were read in a browser. We only describe October from first-hand knowledge, because we make it.
